Jang “MaRin” Gyeong-hwan has parted ways with League of Legends Pro League team Topsports Gaming and is now a free agent, the organization announced Thursday.
The top laner is a former world champion from his time with SK Telecom T1 in Season 5, when he was named the event’s most valuable player. MaRin joined LGD Gaming shortly after the League of Legends World Championship in 2015 but returned to South Korea’s League Champions Korea after being replaced in the lineup by Lee “Duke” Ho-seong. He signed with Afreeca Freecs in 2016, spending two years with the organization.
MaRin joined Topsports in February, but the team finished at the bottom of the LPL East Region standings in the spring. Topsports finished third in the West Region in the summer and then placed sixth in the playoffs.
“I always wanted to say thank you to fans who always support me,” MaRin said in a weibo post. “Thank you. And I hope the top team will have good grades next year. TOP Fighting”
