The Atlanta Hawks own three first round picks in the 2018 NBA Draft. With the 30th pick, the Hawks should be selecting the best available player on their draft board.
The Atlanta Hawks are in a full rebuild of their franchise and the first step of their rebuild this season starts June 21 at the 2018 NBA Draft. With three first round picks, the Hawks have a bunch of different ways they can go. Do they keep all the picks, trade one or do they only keep one pick?
The Hawks lack talent on their roster and need to add better guys. Right now, they are led by Kent Bazemore, Dennis Schroder and last year’s first round pick, John Collins. It has been reported that Schroder is unhappy in Atlanta and may be seeking a trade. If the Hawks lose him in a deal, they will be hurting for solid starting players who can handle and score the basketball.
The Hawks should look to trade the 19th pick or 30th pick to either move up into the draft or add some younger players from other teams. For now, we will assume the Hawks keep all three draft picks.
We will also assume the Hawks take a big man with pick No. 3 and that they take a wing player with the 19th pick. With the 30th pick, the Hawks don’t need to be too picky. They should go with the best player they have on their draft board, regardless of position. With that in mind, here are five options for pick No. 30.
